The true story behind Dog Day Afternoon
A reconstruction of the real story from the fiction film Dog Day Afternoon (1975 Dir, Sidney Lumet).
In this documentary we meet the real bank robber and a strange thing happens: the real robber adopted the fiction version of himself, the courageous anti-hero so well performed by Al Pacino. He uses lines straight from the script, as if it where his own words. Fiction and fact meet each other here in the strangest way. Stokman’s documentary was a festival hit in 2005, showing at the Berlinale and Tribeca, New York. The film was rewarded for the Grand Jury Award at the International Film Festival in Seattle in 2005.
